NIGHTLIFE
Wollongong’s free (yes we said FREE!) Gong Shuttle Bus makes it easy to get around the Wollongong’s CBD.
The service operates in both directions on a loop from Wollongong Station to Wollongong University via Wollongong Hospital, Burelli Street and the Innovation Campus. Please refer to the green line on the map for the Shuttle’s exact route and scheduled stops.
On weekdays the Shuttle operates every 10 minutes between 7am and 6pm and every 20 minutes from 6pm to 10pm.
On weekends the Shuttle operates every 20 minutes between 8am and 6pm. The route numbers for the Gong Shuttle are 55A and 55C.
No need for taxis! Keiraleagh is in the heart of Wollongong's thriving nightlife, going strong all throughout the week! Especially Wednesday is concidered to be the students night to let loose and have fun, with many clubs and pubs offering student prices and special student events.

The University of Wollongong, UOW, is a public research university located in the coastal city of Wollongong, only a 10-min drive from the Keiraleagh Backpackers. The free shuttle bus stops very close by, only a 2-min walk away, taking you straight to the campus.
As of 2014 the University has an enrolment of over 30,000 students (including over 12,800 international students from 134 countries), an alumni base of over 112,000, and over 2,000 academic related staff. As of 2015 Wollongong consistently ranks among the top 2% of universities in the world.

RAD BAR & LIVE MUSIC NIGHTS
Rad Bar is a venue in the lower end of Crown Street Mall, formerly known as Yours and Owls, only a 5 minute walk from the Keiraleagh Backpackers. This place is keen to keep up the venue's thriving live music nights pumping, also using the building as a creative space for visual art and poetry.
So many cool things are happening in the music scene at the moment!!

The backpackers is run by a friendly, helpful family, who offer low rates, free wi-fi, multiple room options within the bohemian, happy and relaxed heritage building. The backyard area is a great, easy-going place to relax, enjoy the company of friends, listen to music, de-stress by the firepit or whip up a pizza in the wood fired pizza oven!
Keiraleagh is only a 10-min walk from the beach, being a delightful destination for surfers and sun-loving students! We are spoilt with choice, with many beautiful beaches only a short walk or drive away. From peaceful, soft sands to great surf, Wollongong beaches are an excellent choice for fun, relaxation and surf.
You can also learn to surf with accredited surf schools at many Wollongong beaches. And, if you're an experienced surfer, check out the waves at Scarborough Beach, Thommos reef break at Coledale and Sandon Point.
